Hempel™ Alu Prop NCT is a high performance, self-polishing antifouling, which is suitable for glass fibre, wood, plywood and aluminium vessels. The Alu Prop NCT Antifoul features Hempel™ patented binder technology which ensures outstanding fouling protection and colour retention all season. Although this antifoul works on a wide range of substrates, it is especially suited for aluminium boats, as long as they are suitably primed.

How do I prepare a surface for the Hempel Alu Prop NCT Antifoul?

New Build

  1. Remove salts, detergents, contaminants & marine growth by high pressure fresh water cleaning.
  2. Allow to dry.
  3. Prime surface with Hempel Light Primer.
  4. Apply a tiecoat of Hempel Underwater Primer whilst surface is still tacky.

Maintenance (existing self-polishing or traditional antifoul)

  1. Remove loose matter & contaminants by high pressure fresh water cleaning.

Maintenance (existing hard matrix or unknown antifoul)

  1. Remove loose matter & contaminants by high pressure fresh water cleaning.
  2. Wet abrade the surface.
  3. Dry & remove dust.
  4. If previous antifoul is in poor condition, seal with 1 coat of Hempel Underwater Primer.
  5. If previous antifoul is in general bad condition, it is recommended to remove previous coats & prime before applying antifoul.
