The Epifanes Woodfinish Gloss is the ultimate varnish alternative without sanding which also provides a quick, easy approach to a superior, high gloss finish without sacrificing integrity or longevity. The Epifanes Wood Finish features a deep high gloss finish with excellent U.V. protection and no sanding in between coats, as long as it is re-coated within 72 hours.

The Epifanes Woodfinish Gloss has been specifically formulated to work well on oily woods such as teak and iroco, however is not suitable for bankirai.

How do I prepare a surface for the Epifanes Woodfinish Gloss?

  1. Clean wood surface.
  2. Sand surface using 180 grit dry abrasive paper.
  3. egrease thoroughly with Epifanes Spray Thinner for Paint and Varnish, or other suitable degreaser and allow to evaporate completely.
  4. Remove all dust.
  5. Do not use water.

How do I apply the Epifanes Woodfinish Gloss?

Teak, Iroco and other oily woods

  1. Apply first coat, thinned by 25%
  2. Apply 4-5 coats thinned by between 0% and 5%
  3. Allow 24 hours curing time at 18.3℃ (65℉) between coats.

Mahogany and other non-oily woods

  1. Apply first coat thinned by 50%.
  2. Allow 24 hours curing time at 18.3℃ (65℉).
  3. Sand with 280 grit dry abrasive paper.
  4. Apply second coat thinned by 25%.
  5. Allow 24 hours curing time at 18.3℃ (65℉).
  6. Sand with 320 grit dry abrasive paper.
  7. Apply third second coat thinned by 10%.
  8. Allow 24 hours curing time at 18.3℃ (65℉).
  9. Apply at least an additional 5 coats thinned between 0% and 5%.
  10. Allow 24 hours curing time at 18.3℃ (65℉).
  11. Sanding before final coat (400 wet) is recommended to maximize the overall appearance of the finish.
