Based on the Bruce anchors used to secure oil rigs in the North Sea, the Claw anchor is constructed from high grade steel cast in a single piece.

It sets effortlessly and holds in a variety of sea beds. Stows easily in most bow rollers.

Claw anchors set quickly and are forgiving of wind shifts.
They perform well in sand and mud, reasonably in gravel, and poorly in weed or rock.
Claws generally need to be heavier than Danforths for similar holding power.
These recommendations assume a chain leader or full chain rode.
For overnight anchoring or exposed areas, consider sizing up.
