The International Goldspar Varnish features a polyurethane resin that gives a tough finish that is resistant to hot water, mild acids and alkalis. This varnish has a quick drying formula to minimise dust contamination and to allow you to get out on your boat as soon as possible.

The Goldspar is a satin finish varnish designed primarily for interior use. For the best finish, follow the preparation and application instructions where possible.

It is recommended to apply a minimum of 3 coats of International Goldspar Satin Varnish with a dry film thickness (DFT) of 40 microns per coat, or a wet film thickness (WFT) of 87 microns per coat.

How do I prepare a surface for the International Goldspar Satin Varnish?

Previously Varnished (good condition)

  1. Clean with thinners.
  2. Sand smooth with 280-320 grade abrasive paper.
  3. Remove sanding dust with thinners.

Previously Varnished (poor condition)

  1. Remove all previous coatings.

Bare Wood

  1. Thoroughly degrease surface.
  2. Sand smooth with 80-180 grade abrasive paper.
  3. Sand again with 280 grade abrasive paper.
  4. Remove dust from sanding by brushing, dusting and wiping.
  5. If wiping with solvent, allow to dry completely.
