Lifejacket Service

Inflation lifejackets require regular servicing to ensure they function correctly whenever they are needed. Depending on usage, service intervals are typically required every 1 - 3 years. Our Servicing Team hold full accreditation for the following brands: Crewsaver, Mullion (Single Chamber), Spinlock, Kru / Remploy, Lalizas, Ocean Safety, Typhoon, Parmaris, Waveline and more.

Service Includes

  • Overall inspection of the jacket elements including webbing straps, fastening, oral inflation tubes, light fittings, firing mechanisms and canister by a certified engineer
  • Dry-air inflation test on the jacket
  • Pressure test of the jacket bladder, inline with manufacturer guidelines
  • Repackage

Please note: The price advertised does not include the replacement of expired or faulty items. Frequently replace items include cylinders, auto cartridges, clips and lights. Upon successful completion a 1 year certificate of conformity is issued.

 


Frequently Asked Questions

What does the service charge cover?

The price advertised cover the testing only. Replacement parts and delivery charges are not included in this fee.

If replacement of any part other than those that are typical is deemed necessary, we will contact you with a revised price prior to commencement.

Shipping for the return of your jacket/s from our workshops, to a UK mainland address of your choice starts at £6.95 inc VAT.

The price you pay will depend upon the quantity of jackets - we will advise when we receive you request for servicing.

How do I get my lifejacket to you?

There are three ways to get your lifejacket to us:

  • They can be dropped off at any YouBoat Marine store (Gosport, Fareham, Lymington, Swanwick), or Spares Marine (Noss-on-Dart)
  • We can arrange for a collection from a Mainland UK address (Additional charges apply)
  • Use a courier of your choice. We recommend that you check their policy regarding the safe carriage of single or multiple Lifejackets with CO2 canisters.

I don't live in the UK. Can I still send my jacket to you for servicing?

Sorry, but we only service lifejackets for UK customers only. This is due to transportation safety standards.

We would recommend contacting the Customer Support for your brand of jacket, as they should be able to help you locate your nearest Service Agent.

I have an MOB device fitted in my Jacket - Can you change the batteries in that too?

We are accredited agents for ACR, Kannad, McMurdo & Ocean Signal. We can change the batteries in your MOB at an additional cost.

Any MOB devices within a jacket upon arrival here are inspected, tested and re-fitted at no extra charge.

What happens if my lifejacket fails inspection?

In this instance, we will let you know, along with details of the specific factors leading to a failed test result.

A failed test will incur a handling / labour / report fee of £3.60 inc VAT.

You will not be charged for a failed test if you upgrade to a new jacket through us.

If you ask us not to return a failed jacket, we will consider this an instruction to dispose of it on your behalf. You can of course pay for the return of your jacket - it's entirely up to you.

How long will I be without my lifejacket?

Once with us, servicing usually takes around 5-7 days. (Dependent upon quantity and any remedial work required)

Always let us know if you require your jacket/s for an imminent sailing date or inspection.
